Penultimate means next-to-last: the next-to-last sentence in a paragraph, measure in a musical phrase, chapter in a book, or period in time.
Penultimatology began with an affection for that word. It has grown into a place for thoughtful work across engineering, history, music, theology, and a life spent studying how things work.
